Mathusla

It is a new proposal for a particle physics experiment that will be installed from 2022 at CERN (for its French acronym, Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire). Mathusla will consist of a large infrastructure (a building of volume 100x100x20 cubic meters) that will contain an arrangement of two types of detectors; Plastic scintillators and resistive plate chambers (RPC).

This technology allows the restructuring of the traces of the standard model particles, which are produced by the decay of the so-called long-lived particles (LLPs). The possible discovery of these particles is very important within the context of a new model, which will allow the discovery of new physics in understanding the functioning of our universe.

Mathusla is currently the effort of an international collaboration between research institutes and universities in countries such as the United States, Italy, Israel, Canada, Mexico and Bolivia.
